Time to get furious?

Latest news from SUN, aka Oracle, aka New Mighty Supreme Leader Of Java:

Unbelievable:

Future Java will be directed in 2 separate branches: OpenJDK and JavaSE for Business.

http://openjdk.java.net/

OpenJDK is for poor and JavaSE for Business is for rest.

Richer java will be equipped by new brand GC: “G1”, which is faster and better:

Poor java will be developed for/by so called community.

Better java will cost some fortune.

Now imagine the world, where new brand and costly java is an obligation.

Something happens directly in front of us… And we do not give a ...[word]

1. I'm not surprised...

2. I don't agree with your richer/poor vision. The Java community is responsible for the better parts of this language...

Why do you care so much?
What is the worst thing that can happen?
You can always move to Scala or Erlang or XXX or YYY or ZZZ no?

I love java. Everything may happen, including separation of java : javax, javay, javz.
I do not like the situation where largest DB and large AS vendor gets also the control over the language.
And immediately uses this power to separate the platform.
Monolith like that is too rigid to be effective. I just not comfortable with that.
A competition will be not effective.

These are the rules of the game, there is open source Linux and distributions which you can buy, don't like it? use FreeBSD. There is also GCC, so why do so many people opt to use MS Visual C++? and why so many companies use Oracle? and IntelliJ idea? and why buy a CA from VeriSign when you can generate your own?

Nobody cares about the dynamics of the forces involved, there is nothing you can do as an end user.

that what I mean furious and powerless...
